America’s Federal Trade Commission (FTC) released its final plan for the removal of all Net Neutrality regulations, so only one rule will remain: Internet Service Providers (ISP) will have to tell consumers what they are doing.

00:28
The FTC now regrets the Net Neutrality ruling and now says it was a mistake because it discourages investment and innovation.

00:37
The FTC argues that Net Neutrality isn’t necessary as they will make sure ISPs are fair to consumers by giving them an easy way to complain if ISPs engage in unfair business practices.

00:51
However, The FTC doesn’t think this will happen as most large internet companies, such as Google and Netflix are richer than ISPs and any deals made will need to comply with antitrust laws.

Currently, there are already federal laws that ISPs must follow, but they are not strictly enforced, so some argue that this could allow ISPs to put more limits on consumer freedom.

The states will also not be allowed to pass their own net neutrality laws because this could cause problems for ISPs. The FTC is certain this new ruling will pass at next month’s meeting.
