Philip Morris is planning to stop selling cigarettes in the UK in the near future.

The company took out full-page adverts in some UK newspapers promising to move away from cigarettes and start selling e-cigarettes and heated tobacco instead.

They have set up a website which gives smokers information on how to quit and is offering support to local stop smoking services where there are the most smokers.

Peter Nixon, managing director of Philip Morris, hopes that the steps detailed in the advertisement will help people to give up smoking and he has promised his company will help current smokers to quit by giving more information about alternative smoking products that are safer.

However, the World Health Organisation (WHO) has advised the government to reject this plan because the alternatives are still not completely safe.
