曾經聽學生提到要做簡報，她說了:
(x) I'll have to do a presentation next week.
(o) I'll have to make a presentation next week.
有些字很簡單，簡單到像make、have、do，如果只用中文「做」直譯，還是會搞錯。要避免中式表達，要瞭解它的概念，而不只是中文意思。
He does the cooking at home. 他在家煮飯。
He made dinner. 他做了晚餐。

do the housework 做家事
do business 做生意
do exercises 做運動
Make
make enemies 樹敵
make a promise 做承諾
make a difference 改變
關於“introduce”我們知道的太少
簡報開場最常用的一個動詞就是introduce，Cambridge字典裡的定義是“tell someone another person's name the first time that they meet”，介紹自己、介紹不認識的雙方、產品、新的技術， 但有時中文裡的「介紹」，意思是推薦recommend，有時意思是轉介，英文用 refer更貼切。在 不同情況下，找到一個貼切的「介紹」，更顯得專業。

recommend: 推薦
Can you recommend a good lawyer? 你可以介紹好律師嗎?
refer: 轉介
The doctor referred the patient to a specialist. 這位醫生把病人轉介紹給專門醫生診治。
tell 說明 / describe 描述 / brief 簡單說明
Their manager briefed me on the latest developments. 他們的經理簡單和我報告最新的發展。
