Perfect Pitch: 提案時,謹慎使用你的“Buzzwords”

「簡潔」、「明確」是報告的首要條件,我們發現學生常容易為了要確保聽者明白自己的意思,就在同一個概念上不斷重述,這是因為字沒有選對;此外,有些人因為想要展現專業,會刻意去選一些「難以駕馭」的字,這些字有時不太實際,老外也不常用,說了反而會增加誤會。本期的英語島實驗室,從提案步驟到選字細節(word choice),一步步強化你在台上的表達力。


 

報告的表達要清楚、明確,偶爾穿插一些商業流行語雖然可以拉近同業的距離,但太頻繁地使用就會顯得刻意,甚至模糊原意。下面列舉出6個常被過度使用的商用字,試著改用淺顯的說法讓你的報告更有人味:

試著這樣說

儘管我們正在傳統產業中較勁,我們產品的競爭優勢在於……

  

2. 可行的

○ the steps we can take

○ useful

 

試著這樣說

“The following steps we can take are…”

我們接下來可以進行的步驟是……

“It’s a useful idea for the project”

對這個專案來說,這是很有用的點子。

 

3. 優化

optimize

○ make the best use of

○ improve

 

試著這樣說

“By doing…, we can make the best use of

藉由執行……,我們可以把……做最好的利用。

“Our company aims to improve the customer services.”

我們公司以改善客戶服務為目標。

 

4. 協同

synergy

○ partner up with

○ work with

 

試著這樣說

“We have partnered up with…, and as a result…”

我們已經和……合夥,也因此……

“(Company name) has worked with us to…”

(某公司)已經和我們一起工作……

 

5. 變更

pivot

○ do…instead

○ change

 

試著這樣說

“Since our original idea didn’t work, we did…instead.”

由於我們原本的想法沒能成功,我們改用…… 

“To improve…, we changed our…”

為了改善……,我們改變了我們的……

 

6. 思想領袖

Thought Leader 

○ …is widely successful

 

What else can you say?

“(Name), who is widely successful in this field, provided advice on…”

(某人)在這個領域相當成功,他對於……提供了意見。
