What's the big deal? 意思和你想的不一樣

這裡的deal不是我們熟悉的意思「交易」，而是「局面、情況」：

（Ｘ）和Johnson教授的交易進行得如何？
（Ｏ）Johnson教授最近怎樣？
“What’s the deal?”是老外常用的問句，既是詢問情況，這裡同時隱含想知道，你為什麼去拜訪他。有時候也用”What’s his/her/their deal?”
相當於 What’s the problem? What’s the situation? 他/她/他們怎麼了？
deal當作局勢、情況的用法，再來看兩個例句：
What’s the deal here? My key is gone. 這兒怎麼回事？我的鑰匙不見了。
The deal is that I’m tired of this job. 問題是，我對這工作已經感到厭煩了。
deal這個字在商場常用字，有幾個容易弄錯的句子，一起來學學
1. What’s the big deal?
（Ｘ）有什麼大訂單？
（Ｏ）那有什麼了不起？！
big deal是指重要的事，所以"What's the big deal?"就是指：「這哪是什麼大事？」
如果我們說"It is a big deal."意思是「這件事情很重要」。但big deal也可能是反話，看語氣而定，例如：
Ａ：I ran five miles this morning. 今天早上我跑了五英里。
Ｂ：Big deal! I ran ten. 沒什麼了不起！我跑了十英里。

2. It’s a deal.
（Ｘ）這是一項買賣。

deal就是搞定了的交易，有時更嚴謹一點，就說”It is a done deal.” 意思是這交易已經談妥了，不可以再更改
3. Here's the deal.
（Ｘ）這樣交易。
（Ｏ）就這樣吧／這樣好了。
這是在談判過程中，好用的發語詞，接下來就是要給個建議：
Here's the deal. You're going to stay here while I go find help.
