才開工上班，老闆就說要check in with you，是想查勤還是核對工作內容？

放了長假回來上班，Jessica收到老闆的email："I just want to check in with you…"「糟了，」Jessica心想，老闆要來檢查我的行蹤，難道是懷疑自己工作不認真？其實在這裡check in with既不是「檢查」，也不是我們熟悉的「報到」。
在商業場合中“Check in with someone” 指 「向人報告，和人取得聯繫並確認事情進展順利」；在生活場合中，“Check in with someone”是「問候平安」。

"I just want to check in with you…."
（X）我要查看你。
（O）我想看看你好不好。

來看怎麼應用：
My boss checked in with me to make sure that everything was alright with the project.
我主管聯繫了我，以確認這個專案進行得順利。

真要說檢查，和check相關的片語是check up/check on/check over意思差距不大
Please check up the data. 請核對一下這些數據。
Please check on your work. 請檢查一下你們的工作。
Would you mind checking over my report? 你介意幫我核對一下我的報告嗎？

另一個也常用check片語是check back，表示再聯繫
All right, I will check back with you in an hour. 好，我一小時後再聯繫你啊

Check out的多重用法
稍微複雜的是Check out，它和Check in一樣，意思很多重：
1. 結帳離開
Mr. White has checked out this morning. 懷特先生今天上午已經結帳走了。

2. 檢查
I'm not sure whether the light has been turned off - I'll just go and check it out.　不知道燈關了沒有，我去看看好了。

3. 通過測試
All the trainees checked out all right. 所有的受訓人員都符合要求。

4. 與事實吻合
Everything he said checks out. 他說的一切經查證都和事實吻合。

5. 【口語】快來看！
That movie was out of this world. You should check it out! 那部電影超棒的，你應該去看看！

要告訴別人一件事，或要對方看一個東西的時候，就可以用check it out這句話來引起注意。就像You know what/Guess what/Look也有同樣的功能。
