【你不是沒料,是寫錯話】科技人英文履歷常犯的 5 個錯誤

你很優秀,經驗也豐富,卻在英文履歷上老是被打槍?
也許問題不是你不夠好,而是——履歷沒寫「對外國主管看的英文」。

很多科技專業人才寫英文履歷時,不知不覺就用了「翻譯出來的中文」,看起來像學生報告或公司內部文件,而不是國際職場的專業申請書。
以下是最常見的 5 個錯誤:

 

(X) 1. “Responsible for…” 全履歷都是你「負責」,卻看不到你「做到」什麼

Responsible for firmware testing and documentation.
Responsible for managing project timeline.

 問題在於:這些句子像是在複製 job description,沒有表現出你價值。

(O)更專業的說法:

  • Executed system-level firmware testing across 3 product lines, reducing bug count by 35%.
  • Managed project timeline for a cross-functional team of 12, delivering ahead of schedule.

 

(X) 2. Buzzwords 空泛疊字:「teamwork, communication, hardworking」寫再多也不加分

Good communication skill.
Strong sense of teamwork and responsibility.

 問題在於:這些詞看似正面,但內容空洞、沒細節,HR早已看膩。

(O)更具體說法:

  • Presented weekly updates to stakeholders from engineering, design, and operations.
  • Facilitated remote collaboration across 4 time zones during a 6-month product launch.

 

(X) 3. 錯把「知道」當「會用」:Familiar with / Know how to

Familiar with Python and Git.
Know how to use Tableau.

 問題在於:familiar / know how to 代表「看過、了解」,不代表你真的能解決問題。

(O)更精準的說法:

  • Proficient in Python and Git; developed automation tools for deployment and version control.
  • Used Tableau to build real-time dashboards tracking KPIs for 3 product teams.

 

(X) 4. 中式說法外國人看不懂:「cost down project」不是英文!

Led a cost down project for server production.

 外國主管會皺眉:What’s a “cost down project”?
(正確英文會說 “cost reduction” “cost-saving measures”

(O)修正寫法:

  • Led a cost-reduction initiative that cut server production cost by 12%.
  • Identified vendor consolidation opportunities, saving $300K annually.

 

(X) 5. 時間、成效、數據都沒有——看不到「你做了什麼、造成什麼影響」

Developed internal tool for task management.
Participated in hardware design process.

 問題在於:這些句子沒有成果、沒有變化,就像背景介紹。

(O)改寫範例:

  • Developed internal task management tool that reduced daily planning time by 40%.
  • Participated in circuit redesign that improved thermal performance by 15%.

 

結語:你不是沒做事,而是沒「寫對」

好的英文履歷不是「翻譯好的中文」,而是用國際職場的語言呈現你創造的價值

  1. 用動詞開頭,不是「負責」而是「做到」
