Dan到會計室請款出差費用，這時他應該怎麼說？

不假思索：I want get my money back.

你可以說：I'd like to be reimbursed for the expenses.

I want get my money back 聽起來像不像討債？Reimburse有「補償」的意思，burse原意是金庫，im相當於in，re是return=>「再回到金庫裡」，意思是，一筆錢用掉了，又回到你身上。想像在公司，你自己先墊出一筆錢，再向公司報帳，這個動作就叫reimburse。

E.g. Tell me what you have spent and I will reimburse you.
（告訴我你花了哪些費用，以便我還給你。）

這個字也常常以名詞型態出現：

E.g. I would like to get travel reimbursement.
（我想報出差旅費。）

上班途中

Dave上班路上車子意外爆胎，打電話回辦公室，同事問：Why didn't you show up at the meeting? 他腦中只浮現car accident這個單字，但到底要怎麼說才能表達爆胎，而不是出車禍？之前因為連環車禍而上班遲到，他也是說car accident…爆胎是事實，卻擔心同事心裡想，怎麼可能那麼多car accident？

不假思索：I met a car accident.

你可以說：My tire popped on my way to the office.

爆胎也可以說have/get a flat tire = (tire) blow out

E.g. I got a flat tire on the freeway.
My tire blew out on the freeway.
（我的車子在高速公路上爆胎了。）

要是輪胎被戳破可以說 (tire) be punctured

E.g. Is my tire punctured? It's almost flat.
（我的輪胎被戳破了嗎？它沒什麼氣。）

大廳

客戶要去公司附近晚餐，特地上來邀經理一塊用餐，可是經理已經下班了，我該怎麼表達？

不假思索：Our manager is out of work.

你可以說：Our manager is not in.

out of work是「失業」之意。下班的正式說法是get off work/duty，口語一點則直說He is not in。另外，off當形容詞可表示「休假；不營業」。

E.g. We are off today.
（今天我們不開張。）■
