Cross check、testing…製藥業常見的英語口誤，你有注意到嗎？

在製藥產業中，跨國合作和英語溝通是日常工作的一部分。我們常常一不小心用一些直譯，或聽起來很中式的表達，導致外國同事或客戶困惑。來看看一些藥廠常見的英語錯誤及正確用法。

這份報告要cross check一下。

• 錯誤用法:
  (Ｘ) The report needs cross-check.
• 正確用法:
  (Ｏ) The report needs reviewing for consistency.

"Cross-check" 也有「反覆查核」的意思，是動詞，指交叉檢查以確定真實性。用

The report needs cross-checking.

這樣說文法上沒有錯，但在製藥領域，核對經常是要確定其一致性，"review for consistency" 更清楚地表達了檢查報告數據或結論一致性的過程。

這個樣品需要做testing。

• 錯誤用法:
  (Ｘ) This sample needs testing.
• 正確用法:
  (Ｏ) This sample needs to undergo testing.

"Needs testing" 聽起來像直譯，雖然可以理解，但精準一點，用 "needs to undergo testing" 會顯得更專業。或是可以用

• This sample needs to be tested.

這個藥的安全性有待觀察。

• 錯誤用法:
  (Ｘ) The safety of this drug is pending observation.
• 正確用法:
  (Ｏ) The safety profile of this drug is under evaluation.

"Safety profile" 是指一個藥物的安全性數據或表現，而 "under evaluation" 是更標準的術語，適用於描述研究或審查過程。

這個臨床試驗還在進行中。

• 錯誤用法:
  (Ｘ) This clinical trial is still going.
• 正確用法:
  (Ｏ) This clinical trial is in progress.

"Going" 很模糊，going where? 聽起來像話沒說完，但 "in progress" 更能表達專業性，特別是在商業溝通中。

這個流程需要streamline。

• 錯誤用法:
  (Ｘ) This process needs streamline.
• 正確用法:
  (Ｏ) This process needs optimization for efficiency.

雖然 "streamline" 是常用詞，意思是簡化、使精簡，是一個及物動詞，後面要加一個受詞，例如:

They use software to streamline their workflow. 他們用軟體簡化工作流程。

製藥領域中，常用"optimization"表達改進流程以提高效率。
