早上有個很重要的會議，Alex 卻偏偏遇上車子爆胎，他打電話回辦公室，同事問：「Why didn't you show up to the meeting?」他腦中只浮現car accident 這個詞， 想不起來「爆胎」該怎麼說。交通狀況百百種，只會說car accident 絶對不夠用，必須學會更多specific 的說法。

「爆胎」的用語是have/get a flat tire，以tire 為主詞，則是接blow out 或pop。若是輪胎「被戳破」可以說(tire) be punctured。

I got a flat tire on the freeway./My tire blew out on the freeway.
我的車子在高速公路上爆胎了。

My car tire popped on my way to the office, so I had to take a bus instead.
我的車子在去辦公室的路上爆胎了，我現在只好改搭公車。

Is my tire punctured? It's almost flat.
我的輪胎被戳破了嗎？它都沒什麼氣了。

held 是hold 的被動態，表示「困住、塞住」。被車陣困住，也就是塞車的意思。

I got held up in a traffic accident.
我被困在車禍的車陣中。

I got held up at the airport by the heavy fog.
我因為濃霧在機場被困住。

連環車禍可以說multiple car accident 或(multiple-car) pileup。multiple 是「多重的、符合的」，而pile 這個字本身就有「累積、堆疊」的意思，所以很容易和連環車禍扣連起來。也可以直接說：There's a major accident ahead of me.（我前面出了一個大車禍。）

There were car pileups occurring on a four-lane expressway. More than five people were killed on the spot.
在一條四車道的高速公路上發生多起連環車禍，超過五人當場死亡。

I witnessed a major car accident in town. Now I have to stay here and wait for the police.
我在市區目擊了一場重大車禍，現在我必須待在這裡等警察來。
