慣用及縮寫的「拉丁文外來語」
英語中的正式縮寫或慣用語中有不少是來自拉丁文，不過皆轉為英語發音，而非原本的拉丁文發音。
AD 公元
拉丁文Anno Domini的縮寫，字面義為in the year of Lord。
etc. 諸如此類
拉丁文et cetera的縮寫，字面義為and other similar things。
CV 履歷
拉丁文curriculum vitae的縮寫，字面義為course of life。
per se 本身
字面義為by or of itself「自身」。
status quo 現狀
字面義為the state in which「所處的狀態」。
vice versa 反之亦然
字面義為position turned「位置翻轉」。
