哪裡不一樣？金融業要翻financial sector還是financial industry？

Sector和industry兩者中文都能翻成產業或行業，均指多家企業因為擁有相似的商業模式，或在共同的領域運作而形成的群體，這兩個字意思大致是相通的，但使用上卻有些微差異要注意。

Sector 產業

指經濟中被切割成幾個大型的區塊，sector涵蓋範圍會包括多個industry，比如我們在描述國家的第三級產業(Tertiary sector)，其中可能包含了商業、金融業、媒體通訊業等等，只要能再被細分成不同行業的大項目我們通常會用sector。

例句：

The main segments of the real estate sector are residential real estate, commercial real estate and industrial real estate. 地產業主要分成住宅用地產、商辦用地產、工業用地產。

由企業組成的群體，同個行業中的公司會擁有相似的經營模式，或在相同地區運作，比如東南亞電影產業 southeast Asian film industry。

例句：

The redundancies are spread across the clothing, banking and building industries. 服裝業、銀行業、建築業紛紛出現裁員潮。
