Wait, expect 跟hope 怎麼分？

先說expect這個字，字面理解是期待、等待一件事情的發生，也有懷孕、懷胎的意思，因此相對於wait來說，是比較感性的，相對於hope來說，更有把握、相信它會發生。

E.g. Rose is expecting her first baby. Rose懷著第一胎

expect也有期待、猜測、指望的意思。
E.g. "Will Ed be visiting us this CNY?" "I expect so." 「Ed今年農曆會來拜訪我們嗎？」「我想會的」

E.g. I don't expect my husband to come from Shanghai and visit me in Washington DC. 我不指望我先生會從上海來華盛頓找我

E.g. My supervisor was expecting a phone call from me last Friday, but I totally forgot to callback. 我主管上禮拜五在等我的電話，但我竟然完全忘了要回撥。

Wait這個字就比較單純、理性，表達等待的事實。
E.g. I've been waiting here for 2 hours!! Why are you so late, Thomas.我已經在這裡等了兩個鐘頭，Thomas你怎麼那麼晚吶？

E.g. Take your time. I'll wait for you.
慢慢來，我會等你。

Hope這個字在句子裡的時候，代表我們的不確定性比較高，有可能不會發生但仍然有期待的。
E.g. Olivier's mom came to Taipei to visit her son and is hoping to see me again. Olivier的媽媽來台北探望他兒子而且希望可以再看到我

E.g. I hope you enjoy your stay in Paris.希望你在巴黎可以玩得開心

E.g. River was hoping that Warriors would win NBA championship this year.River希望今年勇士隊可以贏得NBA冠軍
