選字潛規則

親近(用字簡單)→正式(用字難)

想要跟別人道歉，你可以這樣說：
→I have to apologize that….
→Sorry that…..
第一句明顯比第二句來得更加正式，原因在於單字apologize比sorry來得難，所以想要輕鬆就用簡單的單字，正式就用難的單字。

got→ received收到
I received your email yesterday.我昨天收到你的信了。

need→ require需要
I require your help.我需要你的協助。

fix→ solve解決
How are you going to solve this problem?你要怎麼解決問題？

親近(片語動詞)→正式(單字)

有人問你一個問題，你需要時間想想，你可以這樣說：
→Give me time to consider.
→I'll think about it.
第二句較第一句輕鬆，因為片語think about相較於單字consider更口語，因此想輕鬆就用片語，正式就用單字。

talk about→ discuss討論
We will discuss it later.我們待會兒會討論。

find out→ discover發現
I discovered a mistake in our project.我在我們的計劃裡發現一個錯誤。

show up→ arrive抵達
He will arrive at 10:00. 他早上十點會抵達。

make sure→ ensure確認
Please ensure if you receive the invitation.請確認有沒有收到邀請函。

get in touch→ contact聯繫
Can you contact her for me? 你可以幫我聯繫他嗎？

let me know→ inform告知
Please inform me of your arrival time.請告知我，你到達的時間。

tell why→ explain解釋
Can you explain your decision？可以跟我我解釋你的決定嗎？

talk more→ elaborate說明
Could you please elaborate the plan?可以麻煩你說明一下計劃嗎
