Branding in Asia：台灣打造全球第一款不分性別的學生制服

Taiwan has built a reputation over the years as being one of Asia’s most progressive places, with a young demographic that has become increasingly more diverse and inclusive. This has served as inspiration for a collaboration between acclaimed designer Angus Chiang and Ogilvy Taipei called “Project Uni-form.” Ogilvy says it is the world’s first gender-neutral school uniform that celebrates equality and advocates for respecting all individuals. Combining the power of cultural design and creativity, “Project Uni-form” hopes to inspire people to act together and celebrate diversity and individuality.

Designers in India are now making clothes that are more unisex. For generations, fashion has been confined within the realms of gender, focusing on accentuating and embellishing specific gender stereotypes, to create a ‘desirable’ statement. Now, a new kind of gender neutral clothing is challenging age-old norms, freeing people from the limiting labels of gender. What’s more, people in the LGBTQ community are now finally able to express their personality beyond the realms of a conventional gender norms.

CNN：美國波特蘭推出「書店中性香」，打造懷舊書香風

There's something comforting about the smell of a bookstore. Now Powell's City of Books, the popular Oregon-based bookstore, has released a unisex fragrance, named "Powell's by Powell's," that puts that exact scent in a bottle. The fragrance comes in a 1-ounce bottle set inside a faux book that can be put on display or on a shelf nestled among other books. Since launching the product for pre-order on last weekend, Powell's has already received 1,225 orders. 

Populism 民粹主義

民粹主義訴求以「平民」直接決定政治及經濟事務，反對將國家全盤交由菁英或權貴掌控，2016開始執政的美國總統川普，過去常被國際社會視為「民粹主義」代表，然而隨著他及拜登陷入選舉法律訴訟戰，彷彿給世界各地興起的「民粹主義」一次重擊。

Japan Times：川普落選是否預示全球民粹主義的失敗？

Philippe Legrain, a former economic adviser to the president of the European Commission, says that Trump’s loss amounts to a warning for other far-right populists, such as Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban. Earlier this year, Orban proclaimed, “We used to think that Europe was our future; today we know that we are the future of Europe.” However, his words ring hollow after Trump’s defeat. Even if these leaders remain popular for now,  the defeat of far-right populism is hardly inexorable.

Donald Trump's election defeat gave a glimmer of hope that the world's populist tide may finally be turning, but sadly Asia shows little sign of change. From India's Narendra Modi to Rodrigo Duterte of the Philippines, the region's populists are as popular as ever despite near-unblemished records of pandemic incompetence. The important reason is Asia's populists are adept communicators, with a plain-speaking style and a particular mastery of new media.

The Guardian：疫情打擊，歐洲民粹政黨支持度直線下滑

The YouGov-Cambridge Globalism Project, a survey of about 26,000 people in 25 countries designed with the Guardian, showed a more or less steep decline in populist tendencies in 2020 among all eight of the European countries surveyed last year. Political scientists expressed surprise at the size of the fall but said support for populist beliefs could recover as the focus shift away from the coronavirus to economics. “You could think of the virus like a volcano,” said Matthijs Rooduijn, a political sociologist at the University of Amsterdam and expert on populism. “It has hit populism hard, but it will leave behind fertile ground for the future.”
