Luke聽到同事Francis這樣對他說，他瞄著桌上的黃桿鉛筆，猜著是要借筆給我寫？還是要跟我要筆？

都不是！pencil in的意思是會把你安排進去，特別是指還沒完全確定的事或確定的成員。

Luke終於了解原來pencil還有這層意思的時候，信心滿滿地去了那個會議，會議上客戶十分強勢，最後只說了一句”If you want my business, sharpen your pencil.” Luke更傻住了….心想：這肯定不是字面上要我把筆削尖，八成是要我們降價吧！

沒錯，這次Luke的猜測對了，在商討的情況下，sharpen your pencil的意思就不是單純的請你削鉛筆了，而是在要求你要降價！

Luke 最終還是沒有把那個客戶給談下來，而往後看到筆筒那支黃桿子鉛筆， 就會想起那又好笑又緊張的一天。
