So? 你真的會用嗎？（上）

英文表達總是少了點什麼嗎？用看似簡單的so就可以達到許多加分效果，除了加強語氣，so也可以當連接詞承接上下文，甚至口頭發表時，so也可能救你一命？

1. so+形容詞
例句：Your dress is so beautiful! （你的洋裝真漂亮！）
That’s so kind of you. （你人真好）

Hint: 此處用法等於very, extremely

2. so much加強程度
例句：I love this present so much. （我超喜歡這個禮物。）
Buying an iPhone costs me so much money! （買一支iPhone花我超多錢的！）

3. So放在句尾
例句：Is that why you hate her so? （這就是為什麼你這麼討厭她？）

用so當連接詞，表達因果關係
例句：My legs started hurting so I stopped dancing. （我的腿開始痛了，所以我不跳舞了。）

Hint: 此句也可改寫為Because my legs started hurting, I stopped dancing. 但要注意的是，通常建議because和so不可同時使用，且僅有because可放句首。

2. 用so that表示為了⋯⋯
例句：I leave the keys out on purpose so (that) I remember to take them with me. （我故意把鑰匙放在外面，這樣我才會記得帶。）

Hint: 通常前面是原因，so that後面帶出目的或結果，that可省略

3. 用so...that...來表示太過如何而發生某事
例句：Kids were so excited about the field trip tomorrow that they stayed up all night. （孩子們對明天的遠足太興奮了，以至於他們今天整夜睡不著。）

Hint: 前面的「太過如何」是原因，但that之後帶出的事件比較像是延伸出的後果，並非最初就想達到的目的。

Becky worked out three times a week, so she lost 10 kilograms. （Becky一週運動三次，所以他瘦了10公斤）

Becky worked out three times a week so that she could lose 10 kilograms. （為了瘦了10公斤，Becky一週運動三次）

Becky worked out so hard that she lost 10 kilograms. （Becky很努力運動所以瘦了10公斤。）
