換掉broken， 貼切形容各種「壞掉」

出國住宿，房間設施故障時，往往需要告知房東、飯店員工說明詳細狀況，說:It's broken!東西壞掉了! 但是，東西是怎麼壞掉的呢?不同的東西「壞掉」，用的字也不一樣，這期多益介紹生活中最常見的壞掉情境。 


馬桶堵塞
X The toilet is stuck.
O The toilet is clogged.
stuck 是「受困、無法擺脫」，多指人被困在某個空間;馬桶堵塞的「堵塞」是 clog，「塞 滿...」介系詞加 up或with，例:The pipe's clogged with dirt. ( 管子裡積滿污垢。) 


瓦斯開不了火
X The gas stove is not on fire.
O The gas stove is not igniting.
on fire 是「著火、失火」，ignite 才是「點燃，使燃燒」。 


burn out 電器燒壞 
The light bulb burned out. 燈泡燒壞了。
電器燒壞用片語動詞 burn out;燈光不停閃爍，動詞用 flicker，例:The lights keep flickering. ( 燈光一直閃爍。) 


機器又「搗蛋」了
The range hood isn't working. 抽油煙機打不開。 
機器失靈、無法運作的說法有很多種:not working、shutdown 等。其他常見說法還on the blink、act up，act up 另外一個意思是「搗蛋」。 


need some juice 手機要充電
My phone is dead. 我手機沒電了。
手機需要充電，可以說 I have to charge my phone. 或是 My phone needs some juice. 
充飽電：My phone is fully charged. 我手機的電充飽了。 
手機快沒電：My phone is dying.
I'm going to lose my battery.
My battery is running low.
My battery is running out. 我手機快沒電了。 
手機沒電了：My phone died.
My phone is dead.
My battery has run out.
My phone is out of juice. 我手機沒電了。 


crash 當機
My laptop cashed. 我的筆電當機了。
電腦當機，別說 My computer is broken. 動詞應該要用 crash。 


「停電了」英文怎麼說？
Is there a blackout? The power just went out. 是停電了嗎?突然斷電了。 
停電的說法還有:The power goes off. / The power is gone. / There's a power outage.
恢復供電:The power is back (on). / The power has returned.
另外，「跳電」的動詞是 trip，例:The breaker has tripped. ( 開關跳電。) 


「停水了」英文怎麼說？
The water pipe under the street broke, so the water's off. 因為水管壞掉，今天停水。
和「停電」的說法相似，water outage 也是停水。
恢復供水可以說:The water is on.
儲水的動詞用 store，例:We should store up the water. ( 我們應該要儲水。) 


break down 車子拋錨了
My car broke down, so I had to push it to the side of the road. 我的車子拋錨了，所以我把它推到路旁。
break down 是車子壞掉、拋錨，另一個車子常見的毛病是爆胎，爆胎可以用動詞pop，或是說 get a flat tire 或是 (tire) blow out。 


app閃退不是disappear
My Facebook keeps on crashing every time that I try to post something. 只要我想發東西，我的臉書就會閃退。
What can I do if these apps quit unexpectedly? 我該如何解決應用程式閃退的問題? 
手機或是電腦上的應用程式閃退可以用 crash 或是 quit unexpectedly，另外，如果畫面 突然靜止不動，動詞是 freeze 不是 stop，例:The screen froze. ( 電腦畫面停住了。)
