中美洲彩虹旗首飄揚 哥斯大黎加同婚合法

Costa Rica became the first in Central America to legally recognize same-sex marriage on May 26th. President Carlos Alvarado Quesada said the change gives same-sex couples the same rights as any other family. "Together, under the same flag, we will build a better nation," he tweeted.
哥斯大黎加在5月26日成為中美洲第一個同性婚姻合法國。總統阿瓦拉多（Carlos Alvarado Quesada）在推特上表示，這項改變讓同性伴侶跟其他家庭享有同樣權利。他說：「我們在同一面旗子下，一起打造更好的國家。」

"Today we celebrate liberty, equality, and our democratic institutions. May empathy and love be the compass that guides us forward and allows us to move forward and build a country that has room for everyone." he tweeted. LGBTQ advocacy organizations also celebrated the move.
他的推特寫道：「今天，我們慶祝自由、平等及民主體制。願愛與憐憫引領我們，讓我們得以前行，打造人人都有生存空間的國家。」 LGBTQ倡議組織也慶賀此舉。

The Human Rights Campaign also cheered the decision, though it added that more work needs to be done to achieve marriage equality around the world.
美國最大的LGBT民事權利倡導團體人權戰線（Human Rights Campaign）也為此裁定感到雀躍，但也補充，推廣世界各國的婚姻平權仍需更多努力。

In August 2018, Costa Rica's constitutional court ruled that banning same-sex marriage is unconstitutional and discriminatory. It gave parliament 18 months to change the law before marriage equality would automatically go into effect.
在2018年8月，哥斯大黎加最高法院裁定，禁止同性婚姻是違憲且歧視的行為，並要議會在18個月內修法，否則同性婚姻將自動合法化。

A group of lawmakers unsuccessfully attempted to delay the ruling for another 18 months, and the ruling took effect at midnight on May 26th.
有一群議員試圖將修法再延後18個月，但並未成功，同性婚姻在5月26日午夜自動合法。
